Mission Objectives

Malnutrition: To reduce the incidence of malnutrition in moderate to severe underweight children in the age group of 0-6 years, and also to give priority to the areas where the rate of low birth weight is high. Analyze the malnutrition statistics from the state level and take special measures in places where the percentage of malnutrition is high.

Health: Prenatal care of pregnant women (paying special attention to underweight / anemic women) Care of newborns and special focus on health, diet, vaccination of children up to 0-3 years of age. (Centralization on the age group of -9 months to +3 years) Similarly, to conduct awareness workshops at the taluka beat level to create awareness among the people by coordinating with the health department from time to time.

CC ECCE Policy: – To implement a revised policy of pre-primary education for the beneficiaries in the age group of 3-6 years coming to Anganwadi.

Under Integrated Child Development Scheme, reduction of malnutrition among moderate and severely underweight children in the age group of 0-6 years and emphasis on bringing children in SAM and MAM to normal.

Training and strengthening the Department of Health to implement INMCI-Intensive Management of Neonatal & Childhood Illnesses and Home Based New-born Care on a pilot basis in selected Primary Health Centers in selected districts of the State. To cooperate.

Pay special attention to the education of adolescent girls and reduce child marriage, increase the gap between two children and reduce the severity of all issues related to malnutrition, create awareness about diet and health education.

To create a people’s movement through public participation to reduce the rate of malnutrition by publicizing the work of the mission through the media and to try to shift the responsibility of reducing malnutrition from the government to the society.

Suggest various measures for effective implementation of Integrated Child Development Services Scheme.


Maharashtra was the first state in the country to take a decision to tackle malnutrition in ‘Mission – mode’ and with this purpose, Rajmata Jijau Mother – Child Health & Nutrition Mission was established. The first phase of the Health and Nutrition Mission was set up in 2005, and the second phase in November 2011. The aim of the Mission is to reduce child malnutrition in Maharashtra by focusing on the first 1000 days from conception, i.e. the period of -9 to 24 months.
